Air India partners with IWPA to felicitate Women achievers in Aviation and Aerospace

Air India and the Indian Women’s Pilots Association & International Women Professionals in Aviation & Aerospace (IWPA), joined hands recently to celebrate IWPA’s Golden Jubilee event at Bombay Flying Club by felicitating women achievers, pilots, engineers & instructors.
The President of IWPA, Mrs. Harpreet A. De. Singh, who is also the Chief of Flight Safety, Air India Ltd. was accompanied by the Trustees Ms. Rabia Futehally and Ms. Mohini Shroff besides leading Pilots, Flight Dispatchers and Engineers from various Airlines & Organizations.
Mrs. Kalpana Rao, GM-Finance & Company Secretary of Air India Ltd. also graced the occasion.
Pic 1Women Achievers of Bombay Flying Club were given IWPA Certificates of Appreciation for their hard work and commitment as women professionals in aviation and aerospace. After the ceremony there was networking and interaction between the senior women professionals of Airlines with the women professionals and students of Bombay Flying Club.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Harpreet A.De.Singh said, “It was decided to launch a series of events this year as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations and promote it to encourage women. As a sign of respect to all the women working in various technical and operational capacities in diverse areas, it is time to honour the accomplishments of women and their contribution to Indian Aviation and Aerospace in India during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of IWPA in 2017”.
Bombay Flying Club is a premier Institute conducting Pilot training, aircraft maintenance engineering Training & Air hostess Cabin Crew and Hospitality Experts Training. It is also the birth place of aviation in India, established in 1928. Mr. J.R.D. Tata, the father of Civil Aviation in India was the first person to obtain his Pilot’s license from this prestigious Institute in 1929.
Pic 2Women achievers will be recognized throughout the year in various events through the IWPA, which will seek to promote awareness and education at school and college levels for women. The IWPA also grants scholarships and financial assistance to deserving women for advanced aviation training. An International Conference for Women in Aviation and Aerospace 2017 will also be held in the last quarter of the year. The IWPA will also be preparing a book to recognize the accomplishments of these amazing Women.
