[dropcap]K[/dropcap]ochi: ICON 2017, the National Convention of the IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Tourism Shri. K.J. Alphons. ICON 2017 is being from held from September 14 to 17 in Kochi and over 400 delegates are attending from across the country.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Public Accounts Committee (Parliament) Chairman Shri K.V. Thomas M.P., Shri. Sanjay Shrivats, Regional Director, India Tourism; Ex-Minister for Fisheries Shri. S.Sarma MLA.
Shri. K.J. Alphons who spoke at length about the efforts to be taken for the growth and development of tourism lamented that the foreign tourists are forced to check in to the hotels just to answer the nature’s call as there are no public lavatories on the national highways of Kerala. Kerala has vast tourism potential to be tapped.
IAAI National President Mr. Biji Eapen gave the presidential address. Shri. K.V. Thomas, Shri. S. Sarma, IAAI Kerala State President & ICON 2017 Chairman Shri. Manu T.G. Nair also spoke at the inauguration.
